Trips, snow and....TV ads...

Cambridge. Yip, that's where I went on Friday morning until Saturday night. Over with my mum, cousin and auntie to look at Anglia Ruskin University. Got up at 3am on Fri mornin to make our way to Belfast International for our 6am flight to Stansted. It was painfully cold, and the snow was coming like a blizzard...yes, snow in November! Well, the cold in London was worse, like -10°. Waiting for the train, I don't think I could have shook much more, nor added any more layers. Arriving in Cambridge (I have NEVER seen so many bicycles in my life; literally EVERYWHERE), we found our Tenison Towers guest house. The woman owning that place was unreal, and couldn't have made us any more at home. She showed us the kitchen so we could make tea/coffee etc., and even told us "If the phone rings, just answer it." Then there was Francine! Well, this was a doll that 'lived' in our room! That's all I am going to say as I still have nightmares! Over the two days, other than looking around the uni, which was a really good, nice uni, I spent lots and ate far too much, but I probably shivered the calories away! Coming home, we where delayed in Stansted for almost 2 hours and hit with an epic blizzard when we did get home. A 45 minute journey from the airport home took almost 2 hours. At one point, we where kinda wonderin were we where....for the next 2 days, the snow continued, but hey...snowmen :D

Yip, I built a snowman and threw snowballs for my dog. It's called being in touch with your inner child!

And here he is....Mr. Chills himself. He even has a carrot for a nose and coal for eyes. I was proud! Yes his head is a little small compared to the rest of his body, but by then the snow wouldn't stick and each time I rolled the ball, the dog barked at it and tried to eat it. He really is a hopeless case...lol. The snow however did make work a bit....uncomfortable :(

Being cold outside tends to make ya stay in more and....watch more TV, right? So that's kinda what I did...watched more TV than usual. And OMFG! Who the heck comes up with the ads shown these days! OK, so the first really annoying one for me was the 'Go Compare' ads, which stars some opera singer who needs...well, sacked. They came on so long ago, but the recent one almost made me rethink my Egypt trip! But there are now so many more! Have you seen the ad for the Abbey insurance ad! Right, if some asshole reversed into me, made me spill my coffee all over myself, and then my car door got totally obliterated, I seriously doubt I would sit in the car watching with my mouth open and then break into song about my insurance company! I would jump out, scream at the dick in front, chuck the rest of my coffee over him while letting him know it was all his fault, and then take off down the road after the van...probably in the car, door or not! Then there is the Shreddies knitting Nannas!  The thought of me eating cereal 'knitted' by anyone truly revolts me. Sorry, but even the ads are...haunting! I haven't eaten shreddies since! The Phones 4 U ads too...what genius came up with the idea of a Japanese prison and why???! The Birds Eye Polar Bear is also kinda creepy. Every time I go to open my freezer, I expect him to be there, saying (in a creepy, deep, manly voice) "And Kylie, I'm watching you." Aaaagh!
Occasionally however there are good ones, such as the Yeo Valley ad...so good! I love that tractor! And the Lynx ads...nearly all of those are good! But if they get any worse, I reckon I will stop watching TV...record the program, and watch it later. Or online!

Soooo, I reckon that's me for this time....

"The customer is always right....."

Ok, so this blog is more of a rant which I dedicate to all those people like me who work in retail and are faced with "The customer is always right" almost every day! The public are not the nicest people to work with. so, I say fuck off....if I prove you are wrong, then you are hardly right, and if I see you are right, fair play to you! I also sometimes wonder how some of those people get through life...I apologise in advance for being truthful.

Thursday
I actually don't think I had anyone correct me on prices or ask "Are you sure that's right"...?, which so pisses me off....I work here, I know what's going on. There also wasn't much interaction between any of the customers and me, other than those I served. With those are the select few who seem to be unable to interact with anyone socially and stand as if they have been slapped in the face and got a pole shoved up their asses just before approaching the till, and respond to your "Hello" with a how-dare-you-speak-to-me look. Newsflash, if we weren't here, the shop wouldn't be open and you would have no food, so stick it you tight-ass!!! (its usually women who are like that). Others talk to you as if you know nothing and when they ask for something behind tills, they follow you as if you will get them the wrong thing....god forbid that would happen, but at least they speak!

Friday
Queue customer 1, standing at the off sales checkout, staring at a big sign basically reading "Till closed, if you need assistance, please go to another till"....now, the off sales checkout is on the same place as the shop checkouts, so shop check out chicks can walk around, while staying behind the till...if that makes sense. It is also where the spirits stay...

Customer: (quite ignorantly) I'm I gonna get served???
Me: (thinking, "I know what you'll get", along with "Can you not read?" and "I know I'm good, but I CANNOT work 2 tills at the one time") Yes, you can bring your stuff out here.
Customer: I need something from here!
Me: I will be able to get it for you.
Customer: (sighs and walks around and throws his stuff down) Need a bottle of vodka
Me: Ok doke (goes and lifts a 10 glass bottle of smirnoff)
Customer: I wanted Kulov
Me: (pissed at his attitude) You did't specify... (and changes it)
Customer: If you had a proper system and a member of staff in there....
Me: We do, but that member of staff has gone home...
Customer: (sighs and tuts) Would be better goin up the road...
Me: She cannot work from 9 in the morning to 11 at night....so next time, go up the road. (Give his bags) Next please???
Customer leaves....

Queue customer 2....
Customer: Got any popcorn
Me: Yip, its just up there (pointing to the popcorn)
Customer: (Looking at the popcorn) Yes, yes, very good, very good
Me: *WTF*
Customer: (Staring) So, have you any six packs?
Me: Of???
Customer: Tayto?
Me: Should do. All the multipack crisps are over here (takes customer to crisps). There are no 6 packs, just 12.
Customer: I want 6
Me: Sorry, there is none...
Customer: You sure?
Me: (OMFG) Yes, sorry...
Customer: Right....
Me: *Walks away*

Saturday
Not many today either, just busy and people who think I should be a machine....
Customer 1
Customer: Where is your kerosene pump?
Me: Pumps 3 and 4. The blue ones.
Customer: Ok, have you anything to put it in?
Me: Heating oil canisters. They are £5 each.
Customer: Oh, can you reuse them?
Me: (thinking duh) Yip.
Customer: So if I bring it back can I get my money back on it?
Me: (WTF) No, once you buy it, it's yours...
Customer: Oh, ok.

Customer 2 - reading her receipt in front of me
Her: You sure that milk is right? It says 2 for £1.49 and it only took 11p off. If they are 85p each, 2 would make £1.90 and minus 11p isn't £1.49....
Me: Yes, its right. The milk is 2 for £1.59, not 49...(£1.90????)
Her: Hang on (runs to see)
Me: (Thinking 85+85=£1.70. Where did she get £1.90???)
Her: (Comes back) Hmmm, so is it right?
Me: Yes. 85+85 is £1.70 and minus 11 is £1.59....
Her: Right *leaves*
Me: Confused......

Other days
Customer pays by card....
Me: Just slide it in the top there...
Customer: Just in the bottom??? (Trying to get the card in a slot that doesn't exist)
Me: (WTF) No, in there.... *points to slot*
Customer: Aw right, these are different every day...
Me: Just smile * "Not in here, they are all the same and you used it yesterday!"*

Customer: That's the wrong price
Me: 2 seconds and I will check
Customer: But its wrong...
Me: (Goes and sees that its right and the customer is wrong) Nope, its right...
Customer: I don't want it then
Me: Ok (haha, I proved you wrong, and I feel so good)!

Customer looking at the wine barrel in the off license: How much for that?
Me, shocked: Its not for sale.
Customer: So can I just take it then?
Me, even more shocked: No. It belongs in here...
Customer: You sure? Who would I see about buying it.
Me, so shocked I couldn't be any more shocked: No one. It stores our excess wine...
Customer: That would be great in my house
Me, WTF: Right, well, its stayin here
Customer: Who is manager in here?
Me: She won't sell it or give it to you....please leave it alone
Customer: When will the manager be in?
Me: Monday mornin, about 10ish
Customer: I'll come get it then...
Me - so lost, confused and shocked that someone could be so thran and thick!

These are just a tiny example of stupid, ignorant and horrible people really are. They are capable of leaving me in a shitty mood, dazed and confused (mostly confused all the time) and really surprised at some of the stuff they do and say. Please, tell me I am not the only person who gets this way, and wonders "How the hell do you make it through life darlin/son???"...

Bye bye

What does your hair colour say about you?

Monday, the worst day of the week in my opinion, but not very productive for me. Arsed about a bit during the day, and then went to the cinema with Thomas to see Skyline. It was....different and strange but quite good all the same. Like a 'War of the Worlds' meets 'Cloverfield' movie. Oh oh oh, and C-Bear was in it (I am assuming you watch Scrubs, if not, your loss!)

Then Tuesday came and I had to go in the morning to get my flu jab...good times! As I sat in the waiting room looking around, I couldn't help but think... 'Yuck.' I know it is probably not the healthiest place in the world, and it is "sick" people that go there, but the noises some people make without a care should not be allowed! Its disgusting! Put it this way, sniff and slobber any harder, you will have the whole room, people, chairs and all up your nose so far they will be having a party in your brain! WTF? Have manners, no one want to hear what your doin....really! So I got the jab and lost some blood and I went down town to do a bit of Xmas shopping. I also spotted some funky hair dye, Cosmic Blue. After pondering and pondering, I thought 'What the hell?' and bought it. Did I come home with any Xmas pressies?....No.

So, back to the post title, 'What does your hair colour say about you?' Apparently, hair colour says a lot about a person.

RED: Feisty, opinionated and seductive!
BROWN: (My natural colour) : Responsible, the good girl (haha).
BLONDE: Party loving, sex bomb and I have to add, dumb (it is how they are perceived, no offence intended).
BLACK: Exotic, sultry, tough and mysterious! This is the colour I went for. Cosmic Blue is black with a blue shine or tint to it, and I have to say, while being absolutely terrified putting it in and thinking 'OMG what if this turns out horrid and makes me look stupid' along with 'Shut up, its ok to be different, Lady GaGa says so,' I am quite happy with the result. A 'Play it up' suggestion to grab more attention is to go for a blue-black shade, so, done....I'm not trying to grab attention though...

Today, after one of the worst nights I remember with wind and rain, was the day to get the hair cut...just a trim. 2pm, hairdressers for a wash, cut and dry. When in the hairdressers, what do you do? Not in general, but when you are getting washed, do you close your eyes and hope you don't fall asleep and snore, do you stare at the ceiling or do you look around as if you don't know what is goin on? Then on to the chair. Do you look in the mirror at the hairdresser to make her nervous and watch everything she is doing as if she is gonna make a mistake and make her even more nervous, thus the higher the chance of scissors in the face or the loss of more hair? Do you stare at the floor? Or again, do you look around you as if you don't know what is goin on? For me though, I look around...sort of. I have to remove my glasses for the whole process and therefore CANNOT see anything so I look towards the floor and all around at the blurs. I have to put an epic amount of trust in the hairdresser to do a good job, and this time, for the 1st time in a long time, I had a different hairdresser, same place, just different person... Getting my hair done is like a before and after job. I see what it was like before it gets cut, and then after = a surprise. There is no in between...I'm blind! But, again I am happy :D

For now

Remembrance Sunday and some random stuff...

So, this morning I was nicely awakened by the presence of a little kitty staring at me from not too far away. Yes, it was Chewi, and when I half opened an eye, she was sitting by her empty food dish and she gave me a little 'feed me now... please' meow...I had to get up. Then unfortunately, no cat food, so I had to get washed and dressed to go get some. Arriving home and pouring her food, she ate, taking no notice of me as she finished and walked past, she plopped herself on the rug in front of the fire, and lay there....all day! Yup, that's the thanks you get for loving your kitty :)

Anyway, today was Remembrance Sunday, the main day that we in the UK remember the 11th November as the official day of the end of WWI...11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month. This is one of the days that my grandparents come for dinner, and we sit around the dinner table and eat an awesome meal cooked by my mum. And today could have topped any other time and one of the best dinners ever. It might just be because I absolutely love my food, but... I recently had an epiphany...I should have been a food critic. How awesome would that be, get fed in loads of different restaurants for free :D. Ok ok ok, back on track. After dinner we went into the warm sitting room, its so cold these days it is painful, and after a while came dessert. Eatin up, then came tea/coffee, and then my grandparents where left home. I'm now writing this blog thinking what did I do today, and the real one answer is...I spent most of the day eating! Great fun, and I will probably have supper :O

Hmmm, but that was my day, and now that I am off work until Thursday, lets see what we can do that might make my week maybe a bit more...fun???

So for now....

The World of....Blogging

So, I have decided to enter the big wide world of blogging. Its everywhere right, it might even be hard to get a job unless you blog! But what to write....?

Ok blog...I'm Kylie, I am 22 (yes, I'm old!) and I currently reside in a little town called Ballykelly in Northern Ireland...it is as exciting as watching paint dry, that much happens all the time! I work in a supermarket/garage where I will probably be most of the time, but only until I can find a 'proper' stable full time job, hopefully not here. I have recently graduated from the University of Ulster in Coleraine with a Bachelors degree in Marine Science with a Diploma in Area Studies from studying at Flinders University in South Australia for a year. That was the best year of my life and I met so many new and wonderful people from many different corners of the world! There is where I hope to be in the future in a job associated with my degree before all of the information I 'learned' slowly dissipates from my mind. School and uni where the best years of my life...

My friends and family are the most important people in my life! I currently live at home with my mum, dad and brother...you could say cat, dog and two little fishies too...so that last line made me sound a bit sad :/ I wouldn't mind a house of my own, but hey, home comforts :) I love to travel, and I have been to many different countries and places and am planning taking a scoot over to Egypt in December. Travelling has shown me other cultures and helps open your eyes and mind to many other ways in which other countries work.

I would also say that I am a 'friend of the world.' I believe that the whole global warming thing is having a negative effect on the world and that we should be doing more to slow it down, because lets face it, what is done cannot be undone! Unfortunately. Uni 'learning' showed me how it literally effects EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE, if not directly, there is some sort of indirect knock on effect. So, stop destroying the planet.

I love music, new and 'old', and one of the biggest musical influences to me would be Lady GaGa. She is like the new, nowadays version of Madonna/Michael Jackson...to me she is epically amazing and I don't care what you think. She sees no limits and doesn't care what anyone thinks about what she does...I am pround to say I am one of her Little Monsters :D. There are many other great artists too...Pink, The Script, Bon Jovi...etc. TV I don't really watch...we are far to far behind in the UK for the programmes I like. I have to admit though I am a bit of a computer nerd, but hey, that's awesome :)

So I think for now you know enough about me and my extremely exciting life. Word of warming: Other blogs may also be this exciting... so for now Mr Blog...till next time.
